Spire worked with the client, builder and other trade partners to create the perfect lake house retreat and it wanted to ensure every component used was built for optimal sound and video quality. For the home theater room, which was kitted out with a custom leather couch and needed to offer superb sound performance, as well as video, Spire turned to Meridian Audio.

Three Meridian Audio DSP640.2 architectural in-wall loudspeakers were installed for the front left, centre and front right channels, along with four Meridian Audio DSP320 in-ceiling speakers for the four surround channels.  A Meridian Audio G65 Sound Controller, along with a two JL Audio E112 subs, were also incorporated into the system.

The Meridian Audio DSP640.2 speakers offer high SPLs (Sound Pressure Levels) and strong bass performance capabilities.  The first products to be powered by the Meridian Audio ‘CLASS-M’ DSP engine, the double precision Aux filter improves resolution on low frequencies, and the built-in Dynamic bass protection technology maximises bass extension, achieving the finest possible audio outcome – perfect for stunning, immersive audio in a premium home theater space, just like the one designed especially for this North Michigan bolthole.

Eight power amplifiers deliver 100W per drive unit and L+R mode for the ultimate, high-power soundbar applications, while the speakers’ super-slim mounting depth of only 100mm means they can be easily fitted into any home theater space.  They’re also very discreet – the grille can be painted to blend seamlessly into any interior, creating a stylish and minimalist, clutter-free environment in which to relax.

Spire carefully positioned the Meridian Audio speakers in the room to ensure exceptional definition, crystal clear highs and full, deep bass.  The result is authentic, engaging musical enjoyment, evoking an immersive and emotional connection in the audience, exactly what Spire sought to achieve.

For truly cinematic quality in this stunning home theater, Spire opted for a Sony VPL VM695 Native 4K projector – compatible with IMAX Enhanced content – with a Meridian Audio UHD722 HDMI Processor.  The homeowner and their guests can relax on the custom leather couch while enjoying their favourite movie or concert. It’s like being at the movie theater without having to travel very far – ideal when you want to escape from the madding crowd.

Meridian’s audio expertise wasn’t just confined to the home theater – its products were also installed in the property’s living room, which has an attached games room.  A pair of Meridian Audio DSP7200 custom colour-matched speakers, equipped with a Meridian Audio 218 digital controller, were strategically positioned on each side of the fireplace, which has a 75in TV over it, installed in the custom stone wall. The floorstanding speakers complement the natural stone, while providing authentic, high-quality sound – perfect for listening to live concerts while taking in the beautiful views of the lake.

Sound diffusing and absorbing panels from Complete Acoustic Treatment System (Complete-ATS) were designed, installed and patterned to take only the sound that is injected into the room and steady it. Covered with acoustically transparent stretch fabric, these panels were installed on all four walls including behind the screen, in-between the in-wall speakers, as well as on the ceiling. Panels were placed to limit unwanted room reflections and to enhance those needed for correct human feeling. Other panels were installed to absorb unnecessary bass, creating a space that allows for dynamic sound without unwanted and overwhelming sound intensities.
